Havana. The President of the Pan-American Cycling Confederation (COPACI), José Manuel Peláez Rodríguez, sent condolences to relatives and friends of the president of the Central American and Caribbean Sports Organization (ODECABE), Puerto Rican Héctor Cardona, after his unexpected death on Friday June 16.

Peláez, in the name of continental cycling, expresses in his message that Cardona devoted much of his life to sport, particularly in Central America and the Caribbean, so he leaves a legacy and an example worthy of being always remembered.

Adds also the member of the Magnanement Committee of the International Cycling Union (UCI), that Héctor Cardona always worried about the sports development of the region, especially of the cycling. "In Cardona we always had an irreplaceable bulwark to find a solution to any inconvenience, whether in the framework of the Games of Central America and the Caribbean or in other circumstances," concludes Peláez's message.
