TOUR OF ITALY: ELIA VIVIANI WINS THE SEVENTEENTH, SIMON YATES FOLLOWS LEADER

MADRID. Italian cyclist Elia Viviani (Quick-Step Floors) has won the 17th stage of the 101st edition of the Giro d'Italia, a 155-kilometer transitional day on Wednesday between the Italian towns of Riva del Garda and Iseo.

With a time of 3 hours, 19 minutes and 57 seconds, Viviani prevailed in the arrival to Iseo in front of the Irish Sam Bennett (Bora-Hansgrohe) and the Italian Niccolo Bonifazio (Bahrain-Merida), second and third respectively. This is the fourth stage victory of the Italian cyclist in the current edition of the `corsa rosa'.

The peloton finished neutralizing the last members of the numerous flight of the day to 11.5 kilometers from the end, following the script established to resolve the day with a massive arrival.

The British Simon Yates (Mitchelton-Scott), who put on the leader's jersey after the sixth stage, stayed a day ahead of the general classification, waiting for the last important exams on his way to the podium. Rome.
