VENEZUELA: CYCLING TRAIN FOR SOUTH AMERICANS OF COCHABAMB
CARACAS. The athletes summoned are: Yolimar Pérez, Mariesthela Vilera, Hersony Canelón, Gabriel Quintero and Adamil Agüero, who belong to the track cycling modality. In the same way, Jeferson Milano and Jholman Sivira, of the BMX team.
The combined trains in two daily sessions with the aim of maintaining or raising the competitive level acquired in the Bolivarian Games Santa Marta 2017, as indicated by the discipline planner, Albert Izarra.
Izarra also stressed that although Milano is among the selected group, the athlete is in Florida, United States to participate in the Gator Nationals preparatory event, which will be held from February 23 to 25.
Canelón, who is currently the Pan-American Sprint Champion, said: "We have been training hard for all the competitions of the Olympic cycle for a year."
For his part, Agüero, who is also in concentration, said he is preparing to fight for the first place in the team sprint test. "Although we are in a general training, I fine-tune technical and physical details to resume my position".
The physical trainer, Adalberto Martínez, said: "The idea of this is to put the athletes in a special arrangement, which gives them the optimal physical capacity for the next events."
It should also be noted that this group is part of the cyclists who are always in the arena due to the good results they have given in recent competitions.
In Santa Marta 2017, in the category by team, Vilera and Pérez won the silver in the speed test. Likewise, Canelón obtained the second place in the same modality.
