HAVANA. The first three days of November will be pure road cycling in the Havana Malecon, with the celebration of the XIX Caribbean Championship, which was confirmed by the head of the International Cycling Union (UCI), David Lappartient; while 25 nations and about 115 riders appear already registered.
The event is framed within the activities of Havana for the 500 years of its foundation, hence the lovers of this discipline can go to the main artery of the Cuban capital on the morning of Saturday, November 2 to enjoy the individual time trial female (22.8 kilometers) and male (34.2).
For Sunday, in the morning also, the route for ladies (68.4 km) and men (125.4 km) is scheduled. Both tests will give points for the UCI ranking to the top ten who arrive at the finish line, which will be located in the well-known Piragua, after an 11.6 km circuit that will cover from Punta to 12th Street.
A day before the start of the competitions, the UCI Exchange Platform will take place at the Comodoro Hotel, which will focus on the need to fight doping in a sport hit by this scourge in recent years, especially in America. The Legal Counsel of the UCI Anti-Doping Service, Justin Lessard, will give a conference on the subject.
Also, for the afternoon of November 2, the federation of the 25 Caribbean nations are planning the celebration of the Congress of the Caribbean Cycling Confederation, a meeting in which the head of the Pan American Cycling Confederation (COPACI), the Cuban José Manuel Peláez, will ratify the total support of his entity to a region that has the potential to grow in many areas, especially in speed.
