Everything is ready for the Tour of Guatemala 2024 and the national and foreign teams confirmed their participation for the most awaited tour of the national sport, which is part of the America Tour of the International Cycling Union (UCI) as part of the international cycling season and will be held from Friday, October 25 to Sunday, November 3, 2024.
The cyclists are in the final stages of their preparation and need to finalize the strategy for the Vuelta, which will consist of 10 stages and will reach different parts of the country.
The organizers have already given the official flag for the competition with only two weeks to go until the start of the competition that will cover more than 1,500 kilometers in different parts of the country. The caravan will reach Jalapa; El Progreso, Jutiapa; Chimaltenango; Coatepeque; Totonicapán; Salcajá and Antigua Guatemala, where the final finish line will be. While in the department of Guatemala it will visit Fraijanes, Anillo Periférico and Santa Elena Barillas.
The national tour will count with the participation of 18 teams, 10 of them are Guatemalan, and although it was expected that Sergio Chumil’s Burgos BH would participate, for having finished the season in Europe he will not be able to come to the country.
The champion team of the Vuelta Bantrab 2024, Petrolike will not participate in the Vuelta Internacional with the champion Jonathan Caicedo, but Daniel Méndez of NU Colombia, who was runner-up and one of the protagonists of this edition, will come.
However, the champion of the 62nd edition was Gerson Toc, who will ride to defend his reign with his team Decorabaños. What a chilean!

The attractions of the Vuelta 2024
For this edition the Vuelta Ciclística will have stages that will test the riders. The most complicated stages will begin on October 27 with stage 3, which will depart from Ciudad Vieja, heading to Escuintla where it will reach the Pantaleón sugar mill for a circuit of 3 bypasses, and will end in Yepocapa Chimaltenango, for a distance of 139 kilometers.
Then, already in the west of the country, one of the most demanding will be the fifth stage with departure in Playa de Ocós, San Marcos, to Ayutla, Coatepeque, Retalhuleu, El Túnel, Zunil, Cantel, Quetzaltenango, and will finish in San Francisco El Alto, Totonicapán. This will be the longest stage with 155 kilometers.
The penultimate stage will be one of the most demanding, the Chronoescalada from Villa Canales to Santa Elena Barillas with only 15 kilometers, but with many difficulties for the riders. Here we could have a virtual champion, who on the last day will arrive in Antigua Guatemala to celebrate.
