In a final ascent, with a favorite goal for climbers, Alexandre Kess (Materiel-Velo.com) won the third stage of the International Tour of Guadeloupe 2023 and went on to lead the race that this Monday won the first third of the segments scheduled.
On a 158km track between Trois-Rivières and Baillif, the Dutchman took victory ahead of the Frenchmen Benjamin Le Ny (U.S.Lamentin) and Alexandre Desroches (Hexagone-Corbas Lyon Métropole), who came second and third, respectively.
The runner from the Netherlands managed to reach the finish line, with a comfortable advantage. In this way, Kess obtained his first victory of the season and, in addition, assaulted the lead in the general classification that until then had been held by the American Cade Bickmore.
Now, behind Kess, the Colombian Esneider Arley Báez is second in the individual overall, who finished fifth on Monday and hopes to stay on the podium until the end, “no matter how hard the journey was, especially in the finals.” , declared on a person page on Facebok.
This Tuesday, August 8, the fourth online stage of the International Tour to Guadeloupe will be held, starting in Saint-François and ending in Sainte-Anne, over a 161-kilometre route on flat terrain. The successor to French Stéfan Bennett, last year’s champion, will be announced on Sunday in Baie-Mahault.
