On a rainy time trial day, Brandon McNulty (UAE Team Emirates) won his third time trial victory of 2024. The American lived up to the predictions and was the best in the 15.5-kilometer time trial at the Tour de Romandie, which took place around the Swiss commune of Oron.
The American champion won the time trial with solvency registering a time of 11:37 at an average of 40.78 km/h. In a great performance, the Colombian Harold Tejada (Astana Qazaqstan Team) was the best Latin American in 17th place.
American Magnus Sheffield (INEOS Grenadiers) finished second in the day’s results and Austrian Felix Großschartner (UAE Team Emirates) was third. Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers) finished 52nd, 1:25 behind the winner.
As for the overall individual classification, there were important changes in the top positions. Belgian Thibau Nys (Lidl-Trek) gave up the lead and now Spanish Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates) leads the race.
The Swiss round will continue this Saturday with the fourth stage, a 159.2-kilometer mountainous section between Saillon and Leysin, which includes 5 categorized mountain passes and a final uphill climb.
