In a great demonstration, Brandon McNulty (UAE Team Emirates) won the time trial of the UAE Tour 2024. With his victory the American rider of UAE Team Emirates snatched the leader’s jersey from Belgian Tim Merlier (Soudal Quick-Step).
McNulty took the win with a time of 13:27″ at an average speed of 53.97 km/h, beating his teammates, Australian Jay Vine, by 2 seconds, and Dane Mikkel Bjerg (UAE Team Emirates) by 4″, who clocked 13:29″ and 13:31″, respectively.
The best Latin rider was the zipaquireño Brandon Rivera (Ineos Grenadiers), who placed 27th, 38 seconds behind the winner. He was followed by Harold Tejada (Astana Qazaqstan Team) in 42nd place, 50 seconds behind McNulty.
A vibrant battle was lived in the United Arab Emirates. A short but intense time trial with more curves than usual where the UAE riders dominated the day against the clock, which took place around the island of Al Hudayriyat.
The UAE race will continue on Wednesday with a hilly 176-kilometer day between Al Marjan and Jebel Jais, with a high finish (19 km at 6%).
