Overall title for Camilo Castillo, mountain classification with César Guavita, sprints shirt with Anderson Castro, the best teams, and three stage wins out of four possible, were the balance of the sensational performance of the under-23 team of the Ministry of Sport in the traditional Vuelta de la Juventud in Guatemala.
The dominating condition was presented from the first stage where Castillo’s victory placed him leader of the race, a position he maintained until the end, even with the attacks received today in the queen stage.
Then, day two was for the triumph of Anderson Castro who asserted himself with the sprints. On the third day, César Guavita took his turn to win and to wear the mountain jersey.
Already today Mindeporte protected the harvested and managed that their figures arrived in time to maintain the positions in the general, at the end of a hard stage of 115 kilometers with a high finish.
The winner was the Honduran Héctor Menéndez, but without threatening Camilo Castillo, overall champion with a 42-second advantage over his teammate Julián Alarcón, also from Mindeporte.
The next challenges for the men’s team in the country will be the Vuelta a Boyacá and the Clásico RCN.
