This Tuesday, the official portal of the famous Movistar club announced the renewal of the contract for three years (until 2026) for the Cuban cyclist Arlenis Sierra, regional and Pan-American champion and one of the essential names in this sport in America and the world.

In the communication itself, the club announced that there will be 14 girls who will compete under its uniform for the coming season, among whom the Colombian Paula Patiño stands out for our continent, who joined these ranks a couple of years ago and has also fulfilled the assigned teammate functions.

“Sprinter, roller, resistant in the mid-mountain and with ability in the peloton and enormous innate class on the bike,” is how the Movistar club characterizes Arlenis in its information, who is known for her powerful finishing in the final spritn and He has seven wins in his service record in two seasons with the blue suit of the Spanish team.

Among the prizes, the Pan-American road crown stands out, a stage victory on the world tour circuit in the Tour de Romandie; winner of the general classification and two partials in the Vuelta a Andalucía – all of them in 2022 – and the road and time trial titles of the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023.

The other Movistar representatives for the next campaign, in addition to Arlenis and Patiño, will be: Aude Biannic (FRA), Jelena Erić (SRB), Sarah Gigante (AUS), Sheyla Gutiérrez (ESP), Liane Lippert (GER), Floortje Mackaij ( NED), Sara Martín (ESP), Mareille Meijering (NED), Emma Norsgaard (DEN), Laura Ruiz (ESP), Lucía Ruiz (ESP) and Claire Steels (GBR).

“It is a complicated decision because three years is a long period and, in my case, I don’t think I have many more seasons left in cycling. But the atmosphere here has been the main reason for renewing for that time,” she explained to the club’s official site.

And she added: “I like to be where I feel comfortable personally, above all, and then, on the bike, also try to settle in and give as much as possible.”

“When you enter a new house, with new family members, you need time to get along with people, but here everything worked well from the beginning, and it is one of the best things I have taken with me. In any place you will have your little problems, but with the runners who are here I feel like part of a family, and sometimes you share even more than with your own,” added the native of Manzanillo.

“I do not underestimate the triumphs and results that I had obtained in previous seasons, but in the last two years, at the WorldTour level – the same in 2023, not so much in terms of victories, but in terms of consistency -, I have always been in a good position. I also take away the satisfaction of having raced these two years with Annemiek van Vleuten. “She is a cyclist worthy of admiration, an example as an athlete,” stated the Cuban.
