One of the most anticipated stages of the 2023 RCN Banco Agrario Classic was held this Saturday between the municipalities of La Pintada and La Estrella, with the attraction of Alto de Minas, an out-of-category port. The final protagonist was Diego Pescador (GW), who escaped alone in the final stretch and was able to cross the finish line victorious.

All eyes were on Team Medellín, since in the previous round it had the first two places in the general classification, in the hands of the brothers Aldemar and Yeison Reyes. However, Pescador made a bet and it turned out perfectly, since he did not find anyone to keep up with him.

“I pedaled the last kilometers with my soul, with my heart. It was all or nothing and I think that in the last races I have always said everything to the end, without giving up. I never gave up and in the end we were given the victory for the team,” declared the winner of the day.

On the other hand, he announced that “there was a strategy with the team and it turned out perfectly. Obviously we wanted a little more distance from the group of leaders, but the stage victory is an immense joy. We are also happy with my teammate Germán who is the U-23 leader. So far the team has had a very nice race.”

“I think right now we can rest. Go day by day and live in the present. We will try to compete in the Classic in the best way and we will give everything on the road,” Pescador added, taking stock of what will be the last day of the race.

Cristian Rico and Kevin Castillo were the closest pursuers of the winner of the segment, but Pescador had a devilish race pace that was able to consolidate his privileged place and left the leader of the race, Aldemar Reyes from Boyacá (Team Medellín-Team), for second place. EPM), while third came Alexander Gil (EPM – GO RIGO GO).

The adventure was well rewarded, considering it was a long escape. Aldemar Reyes tried to put pressure on the winner of the day, but he was enough to cross the finish line in first place. Regarding Reyes, he managed to increase his advantage in first place overall, benefiting from the bonus as second in the fraction.

It is worth saying that Alexander Gil (EPM) starred in the main rise in the Top 10 of the general classification, climbing to second place on the podium, displacing Yeison Reyes who is now third.

This Sunday the ninth and final stage of the RCN Banco Agrario Classic will take place with a 15.8 km time trial between El Poblado and Alto del Escobero to find out if Aldemar Reyes will repeat as champion of the competition.
