The eighth stage of the Vuelta a Costa Rica 2024 was won by Donovan Ramírez (Team Colono Bikestation Kölbi), who added his second consecutive victory. The Costa Rican was once again the strongest in the mountainous definition and once again won alone, after riding 118.5 kilometers between Perez Zeledon and Oreamuno.

The 22-year-old Tico rider, who achieved his sixth victory of the season, beat Ecuador’s Richard Huera (Movistar-Best PC) and his compatriot Andrés Alpízar (Ciclo Café), who came in 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

The overall individual classification remained intact in its first two positions with the arrival of Luis Daniel Oses and Joseph Ramirez at 1 minute and 35 seconds, as well as Alejandro Granados who occupied the third place on the podium with the decline of the Dutchman Lars Quaedvlieg to the thirteenth place in the overall individual classification.

The Central American race, which enters the final stretch, will continue this Saturday with the ninth stage, another mountainous day of 106.8 kilometers, which will run through the surroundings of Naranjo. The successor of Juan Diego Alba, last year’s champion, will be announced this Sunday, December 22, in Heredia (Costa Rica).
