Ecuador shined in the downhill cycling of the Bolivarian Bicentennial Games Ayacucho 2024, obtaining a total of four medals: two gold, one silver and one bronze.

On the second day of cycling competitions, the Cerro Campanayoc Norte, in Ayacucho, became the epicenter of this exciting sport discipline, which gathered athletes from Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru and Venezuela.

Ecuador climbed to the top of the podium with Rafaela Roldán, who won the gold medal in the women’s individual category, while the duo formed by Roldán and Carlos Rodríguez won first place in the team category.

The silver medal went to Carlos Rodríguez in the men’s individual category, and the bronze was won by Martín Ramírez, also in the same category.

Colombia won three medals, one gold, one silver and one bronze. Peru closed the podium with two medals, one silver and one bronze.

Downhill cycling is one of the three disciplines of the Ayacucho 2024 competition program. This sport consists of descending a mountain facing various obstacles.

Cross country will close the cycling competitions in the Bolivarian Bicentennial Games next Saturday, December 7.
