Guatemala already has its champions of the Vuelta del Porvenir 2024! The young Edwin Salanic and Alison Rodas demonstrated their talent on the road to win the leader’s mailot in their respective sexes.
After riding the fourth and final stage of the Vuelta al Porvenir 2024, Edwin Salanic of the ADD Quetzaltenango team and Alison Rodas of Rudy Cycling emerged as the undisputed champions, demonstrating their extraordinary skills and dedication in a race that crossed various sectors of the Guatemalan territory.
This event, held from Thursday 18 to Sunday July 21, 2024, not only showed the ability of our national cyclists but also the competitive spirit that characterizes Guatemalan cycling.

The Vuelta al Porvenir 2024 brought together departmental associations, elite teams and some international representatives, all with the goal of winning the prestigious event. In the men’s category, the cyclists faced a challenging 290-kilometer course, a true test of endurance and skill.
Edwin Salanic, with a time of 7 hours, 48 minutes and 58 seconds, was crowned champion, followed closely by Luis Godoy of ADD Sololá Intercop RC, who was only 2 seconds behind the leader.
While Ferlandy Morales of Red Hook Guatemala secured the third position, also 2 seconds behind the champion, demonstrating the fierce competition among the best cyclists in the country.
The favorite, Cristián López, current National Road Champion, from the Fronterizos Cooperativa Yaman Kutz team, finished in 13th place, 3 minutes and 5 seconds behind the winner.
The favorite to be crowned
In the women’s category, Alison Rodas of the Rudy Cycling team dominated with a time of 6 hours, 20 minutes and 53 seconds, consolidating her position not only as the favorite, but also as a true champion.
Jazmín Puac of ADD Sololá Intercop RL finished in second place, 59 seconds behind the winner, while Ashley Méndez of ADD Quetzaltenango took third place, 1 minute and 1 second behind.
Alison, in addition to her overall victory, stood out as the champion of the mountains with 8 points, while Jazmín Puac showed her tenacity by winning the flying goals.
The closing of the Vuelta al Porvenir 2024 is not only an end, but the beginning of new aspirations and dreams. Edwin and Alison not only took the title, but have also inspired a new generation of Guatemalan cyclists who dream of following in their footsteps.
