Ecuadorian Esther Galarza became the first champion of a Women’s Tour of Costa Rica, while Colombian Lina María Rojas won the last stage and rounded off the performance of the Mexican team Pato Bike BMC Team-Strongman, which gave no chance to its rivals and won three of the four stages.
The final podium left Galarza at the top, who was also champion of the mountain prizes. The Ecuadorian was escorted by Guatemalan Gabriela Soto (Macizo GW Banrural) and Colombian Karen Villamizar (Boneshaker Project presented by Orange Seal).
The hegemony of the Manita squad in the Central American race was notorious, with three victories in the last three days: the Colombian Milena Salcedo the second, the Ecuadorian Esther Galarza the third and the Colombian Lina María Rojas the last.
Ecuadorian Esther Galarza became the first rider from her country to win the title in this event, after 377 kilometers of competition, in an unbeatable day for BMC Pato Bike, taking the partial victory, the overall title and the first place in the mountain, points and team classifications.
The national representatives were also represented on the podium by Diandra Ramirez (AVIMIL), the U23 champion. Also by the members of Ciclo Victor Vargas, taking third place in the team classification, after BMC Pato Bike and Boneshaker Project by Orange Seal.
The fourth and last stage was disputed on a street circuit in Ezcazú with 83.3 kilometers of course. A breakaway of 12 riders had a happy ending with the sprint victory of Colombian Lina María Rojas (Pato Bike BMC Team-Strongman) followed by Mexican Diana Ramírez (Boneshaker Project presented by Orange Seal) and Ecuadorian Marcela Peñafiel (Movistar Best PC).
