The UCI CRC 506 Gran Fondo Costa Rica Santini is ready to return with its second edition on June 9 with the long-distance race from San José to Puntarenas and the middle-distance from Grecia to Puntarenas. This Tuesday, during a press conference, details of this event were announced.

The test is part of the world calendar of the International Cycling Union (UCI) as the opportunity for participants to qualify for the final of the World Championship of Long Distance to be held in Aalborg, Denmark this 2024. It also has the endorsement of FECOCI (Costa Rican Cycling Federation) and the Costa Rican Institute of Sports and Recreation (ICODER).

During the press conference, the official Santini jersey that will be used by the competitors was presented. It is a top of the line piece of the brand with Slim Fit, breathable fabric, smooth sleeves without seams, adhesive elastic and of course the presence of the flags of Costa Rica and the International Cycling Union (UCI). Santini will raffle tickets to the World Cup for two classified riders.

Also unveiled was the official GW bike for the race, which is a unique design manufactured for the event with a cast carbon frame, organic geometry, press fit and improved seat tube for posture.

 “It is very important for the brand to be in this event, which is a qualifier for the World Cup, GW is a brand that has a very strong team that also races internationally and this is a platform for the brand to have exposure in Costa Rica and other countries. We are very proud that people know that they have this option in the market with high-end bicycles, mid-range and other products” Roberto Jimenez, GW representative in Costa Rica.

In the activity were present representatives of the Municipalities of Grecia and Puntarenas who stressed the importance of the arrival of the event to their cantons for the promotion of sport and economic revitalization of these areas.

Event details

The UCI CRC 506 Gran Fondo Costa Rica will take place on Sunday, June 9 with two routes: the Gran Fondo of 127 kilometers leaving from the National Stadium at 7:00 am and finishing at the Paseo de Los Turistas in Puntarenas, and the Medio Fondo of 82.5 kilometers, which will leave Grecia at 7:45 am with the same finish.

The registration fee for both the Gran Fondo and the Medio Fondo is $225 plus VAT. Registration can be done at www.crc-506.com, where you can also consult further details of the event.

With your registration each cyclist gets: official jersey of the event, international medal of the event, assistance posts, bib and helmet sticker, neutral assistance, timing, road safety, insurance, Red Cross assistance, assistance to the cyclist at the closing of the event, access to the fairground, royalties from the sponsors.
