The organization of the Tour of Táchira reported that everything is ready for the start this January 15 of the 58th edition, which has registered more than 120 riders belonging to 20 national and five international teams.
The president of the Tachirense Cycling Association and member of the organizing committee of the race, Rubén Osorio, informed that this year there will be the novelty of a binational stage, which will pass through the border axis of San Antonio, Ureña and Cúcuta, as part of the relaunch of relations between both countries.
In addition, he highlighted the unprecedented Women’s Classic of the Vuelta, which will take place on Sunday, January 22 and will serve to support the girls, as a prelude to crystallize in the not too distant future, the women’s Vuelta al Táchira.
When doing an analysis of the competition, Osorio predicted to the Venezolano News site that the national and Colombian teams will start as favorites, since the Andean Giro is always difficult for European runners.
Finally, the spokesman thanked the joint work of the national government through the National Sports Institute, the regional executive on behalf of the government and the Tachirense Sports Institute, as well as private companies, to consolidate the success of the race.
The “Great of America”, as this traditional fair of Venezuela is known, will start in Táriba and will arrive in San Cristóbal. The eight fractions that make up the traditional Venezuelan round promise a tough fight for the title, to which the Venezuelan Roniel Campos, three-time champion of the Vuelta al Táchira, will compete again.
