A great battle was lived in the fourth day of the Tour of Táchira 2025, which left as winner Gabriel Mendoza (Lotería del Táchira). The Venezuelan took the victory, after riding 113.1 kilometers between Hacienda Los Almendros and San Cristóbal, which ended in slightly undulating terrain.
The 28-year-old rider was the strongest in the final part to take a great victory, in the hot fraction, ahead of his compatriots Alan López (Alicanto Group Kino Táchira) and Neftalí Jiménez (Club Uptaiet-Inversiones Alexander), second and third, respectively.
The fourth day began with an undulating section, which several riders took advantage of to venture into the breakaway, formed by the Venezuelans: Ruddy Rodríguez (Revivir-Produgar Caracas), Gregory Guevara (Politachira Heidy Lee Sport), Neftalí Jiménez (Club Uptaiet-Inversiones Alexander), Kevin Roa (Indet Criket BDV Gran Misión Venezuela), Gabriel Mendoza (Lotería del Táchira), Daniel Abreu (Indet Criket BDV Gran Misión Venezuela), Alan López (Alicanto Group Kino Táchira) and Fernando Briceño (Confitería La Guacamaya Guacafruit).
The bunch kept the advantage of the escapees under control at around four minutes, but with 40 kilometers to go, one of the leaders attacked, leaving only Gabriel Mendoza (Lotería del Táchira) in the lead of the race. With Team Trululu Grupo La Guacamaya in the first positions of the peloton setting the pace, they gradually reduced the gap, hunting down several members of the breakaway of the day.
At the start of the climb, the Venezuelan Mendoza remained at the head of the race with more than three minutes of difference over his breakaway companions, which allowed him to take the win comfortably.
As for the general classification, Trujillo’s Jhonny Araujo (Gobernación de Trujillo) kept the leader’s jersey. The Venezuelan is escorted by Enmanuel Viloria (Confitería La Guacamaya Guacafruit) and Arlex Méndez (Alicanto Group Kino Táchira). While Edgar Pinzón (Selección Colombia) remained in the top 10.
This Thursday will be disputed the fifth stage of the Tachira round, the first of high mountain over 134.4 kilometers starting in La Fría and ending in Mérida, where the climbers and aspirants to the title of the Venezuelan race will begin to measure forces.
