In a great performance, Fernando Briceño (Team La Guacamaya Indet Trujillo) won the third stage of the Tour of Táchira 2024, after covering a distance of 125.7 kilometers over mostly flat terrain, from San Juan de Colón to La Tendida.
The 33-year-old Venezuelan cyclist, who escaped in the early stages of the day, won ahead of his teammate Yorman Fuentes and his compatriot Jesús Goyo (MU Training – País Futuro).
“Grateful to all the teammates who are enjoying this beautiful lap every day,” said the winner of the third stage. Briceño considers that in the next stage of the Vuelta al Táchira, which will be held on Wednesday, “the real” competition begins, for which he feels “well prepared.”
Under a radiant sun, the multicolored caravan began the third day with a four-man escape made up of local runners, in which the men of Team La Guacamaya Indet Trujillo achieved the feat and reached the finish line, making it 1-2.
In the final kilometers, Yorman Fuentes and Fernando Briceño fought a very interesting fight with the peloton. In the end, Venezuelan Fernando Briceño managed to stay in front to take a heroic victory after a long escape.
This Wednesday the fourth stage of the 59th edition of the Giro Andino will be held, with a 127-kilometer mountainous route starting in Tovar and arriving in Mérida. The first high finish that will mark differences between the contenders for the title.
