Just as stage 13 of the Tour de France came to an end, it was confirmed that Mexico’s Isaac del Toro will make his grand tour debut with UAE Team Emirates later this year at the Vuelta a España 2024.

The 20-year-old Mexican rider has earned a spot in the UAE team’s squad for the final grand tour of the season. This was confirmed by Ciro Scognamiglio of La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Del Toro has so far completed an absolutely remarkable first year with UAE. Making his professional debut with one of the world’s top teams, the Mexican has shown from the start that he is not afraid of anything.

His first race was at the Tour Down Under. There, in his debut in a WorldTour race, Isaac del Toro finished third overall, proving that he is a talent that rarely appears in the cycling world.

Later, he competed in Tirreno Adriatico, where he was fourth, in the Itzulia, where he added another Top 10 finishing seventh, and in the Tour of Switzerland, where he was 13th as his worst result in the major stage races in which he has participated.

An increasingly strong rivalry for Isaac del Toro

Isaac del Toro is a rider with a lot of promise for stage tours and grand tours. There will be much anticipation for his debut in the Vuelta a España 2024, where defending champion Sepp Kuss has already been confirmed to ride, and where Primoz Roglic, who had to abandon the Tour de France due to a crash, will also ride.

It won’t be easy for Del Toro, but the 20-year-old Mexican-born rider can certainly be expected to achieve a very satisfying Top 10 in his debut in one of cycling’s great races.
