The penultimate stage of the Tour of Qinghai Lake 2024, which still has one more stage to go, was sealed with victory for the Turkish Ahmet Örken of the Spor Toto Cycling Team. Caja Rural-Seguros RGA defended the lead of Ecuador’s Jefferson Cepeda, who is close to the Asian race title with one day to go.
The seventh fraction, in which the wind was the main threat, took place between the Chinese towns of Qilian and Menyuan with a distance of 168.5 kilometers in a flat finish in which the best Colombian was Julián Cardona (Team Medellín-EPM), placing 13th, 12 seconds behind the winner.
As for the general classification, the Ecuadorian Jefferson Cepeda (Caja Rural – Seguros RGA) remains first with a comfortable advantage of 1:44 with his teammate, the Uruguayan Guillermo Thomas Silva. Meanwhile, Santiago Umba (Astana Qazaqstan Team) retained his 7th place 3:05 behind the leader.
The Chinese race will finish this Sunday with an undulating stage of 120.6 kilometers around Menyuan, where we will know the successor of the Eritrean Henok Mulubrhan, last year’s champion.
