With notable prominence of the runners of Colombia Pacto Por El Deporte-GW Shimano ended this Sunday the women’s Tour of Andalusia 2023, won by the Norwegian Katrine Aalerud, while the Colombian Jessenia Meneses concluded with the mountain title.
“The truth is that she has been a very fought shirt. A very hard mountain pass with a fairly strong pace, but well we were able to pass ahead and we took this shirt, very happy. I knew it was hard, the pace was quite high. For me it’s a dream, I’m very grateful to my teammates who did their best for me, so I’m super happy”, said Meneses.
The Colombian rider was very attentive on the last day and scored points in the only categorized mountain pass of the day to defend the red shirt. Jessenia was the fourth to cross the top of Puerto Hacho de Gaucín (1st category), getting 4 points.
In the end, the climber from Paisa had 22 points, 5 points more than the Norwegian Katrine Aalerud (Movistar Team). Third finished the Russian Tamara Dronova (Israel Premier Tech Roland) with 15 points.
Precisely Katrine Aalerud won the last yellow jersey against the almighty Tamara Dronova (CGS), whose collapse on the ramps of Hacho de Gaucín (1st category), together with the spectacular level of the blue ones, made the Norwegian appear at the finish line with more than a minute ahead.
“Very happy for this first victory in a stage tour. She wanted to try to fight today and see if we got close to Dronova, but she at the same time was under the impression that an attack on Primera Harbor would be too far off the mark. But hey, it was better to try than leave with doubt at the end. We did it, and I’m very, very happy with it,” Aalerud declared after the win.
