In a final full of emotions, Jhonny Araujo (Gobernación de Trujillo) surprised the sprinters and won the inaugural stage of the Tour of Táchira 2025 with a time of 3:44:03″, after covering 151 kilometers in the traditional opening circuit in San Cristóbal.

The Venezuelan rider was the fastest of the escapees, comfortably beating his compatriot Enmanuel Viloria (Confiteria La Guacamaya Guacafruit). Third came the Venezuelan Yonathan Eugenio (Guacamaya), the former champion Roniel Campos finished 4th and the boyacense Jefferson Ruiz finished 5th (Selección Colombia), the three arrived in the group of favorites 21 seconds behind the winner.

At the end of the fraction, the winner expressed his satisfaction for the triumph. “I was confident, I knew that I had good legs and that I was faster than my rival. I have a very strong team and thanks to God it has been given to us. We are confident and this victory helps to reduce the pressure,” said Araujo.

During the day the Colombians were very active, in the early stages Brandon Rojas and Daniel Arroyave were part of the initial escape and in the last kilometers Camilo Gomez also tried, however, none succeeded in their adventure and all were captured.

In the closing several skirmishes occurred and Jhonny Araujo (Gobernación de Trujillo) took advantage of his speed and sufficiently won the duel with Enmanuel Viloria (Confitería La Guacamaya Guacafruit).

The Giro Andino will continue this Monday with the second stage, a 157.8-kilometer fraction that will start in San Cristóbal and finish in Santa Bárbara de Barinas, in a flat finish.
