Round day for Team Sistecredito, Wilson Peña won the final time trial of 11.3 kilometers of the RCN Classic 2024, but the protagonism was taken by Kevin Castillo (Team Sistecredito), who finished in the top 10 in the time trial in Bello, Antioquia, which helped him to win his first title in the ‘Duel of Titans’ and end the hegemony of Team Medelllin-EPM.

The young rider from Risaralda, who took the lead after winning the queen stage in Manizales, managed to keep the yellow jersey. The Sistecrédito rider was followed on the podium by Robinson López (GW Erco Shimano) at 32“ seconds, while Cristian Camilo Muñoz (Nu Colombia) finished third at 47” seconds behind the new champion.

Castillo, 22, who succeeded Aldemar Reyes from Boyaca, champion of the last two editions, added another victory to his record after recently winning the International Tour of Guadeloupe.

“God has rewarded me by winning the Clasico RCN this year, I’m happy to be in a team that started from the bottom and to see this growth is satisfying. At the end I was a little worried, but I was able to overcome the crisis to become champion. I am happy with the victory of my teammate Wilson Peña, who has taught me a lot,” said Castillo at the end of the final day.

The last fraction, the time trial between Bello and Alto Cuartas, which fired the 64th edition of the ‘Duel of Titans’, was in the hands of Wilson Peña, who won the day’s time trial, winning with a time of 38 minutes and 37 seconds.
