Colombian cyclists Kevin Santiago Quintero and Martha Bayona were confirmed within the group of the 72 best runners in the world, who will compete in the 2023 season of the Track Champions League.
The man from Valle del Cauca, who was crowned world keirin champion at the Glasgow Cycling World Championships, arrives as one of the main figures in speed who will be competing in the five rounds of the contest, which will take place between October and November. .
For his part, the Santander cyclist will seek to improve his performance from last year, in which she achieved two victories at the stops in Mallorca and London.
It should be noted that both cyclists will compete for the third consecutive year in the UCI competition, in which they finished in fourth place during their participation in the 2022 edition. In the first version held in 2021, Bayona finished in fourth place, while Quintero placed seventh.
The first stop of the Track Champions League will be held next Saturday, October 21, at the Illes Balears velodrome in Mallorca, in Spain, where the sprint and keirin, speed, and elimination and scratch tests will be held. , in the middle bottom.
In each event, 18 runners will be able to compete, that is, 72 runners in total will compete (36 men and 36 women).
The second stop will take place at the Berlin velodrome, in Germany, on October 28; while the third round will be held at the National Velodrome of St-Quentin-en-Yvelines, in France, in competitions that will be held on November 4.
Finally, rounds 4 and 5, which will define the champions of the third season of the UCI Track Champions League, will take place at the Lee Valley VeloPark, in London, in the United Kingdom, between November 10 and 11 .
