In a letter to the president of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD), Federico Tong, the Executive Committee of Panam Sports informed that the next Pan American Games in Lima will be held between July 16 and August 1, 2027.

After the Executive Committee of Panam Sports held in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic last week, the official date of the next Pan American Games in Lima 2027 was agreed upon, which will allow the planning of the training sessions of each participating delegation.

There were three proposals from the Peruvian government on the table. They were willing to organize the continental Games in May, July or September.

In view of this, and after an in-depth analysis by Panam Sports, the Executive Committee agreed that the continent’s most important multi-sport festival would be held between July 16 and August 1, 2027.

“There were several factors to consider to determine the best date for the Games. The proposals were analyzed and finally we decided with the entire Executive Committee that it would be best to hold them in the month of July, for several reasons, but perhaps the most important is that on that date we will be able to have the best athletes of the continent participating in Lima”, said the President of Panam Sports, Neven Ilic.

Lima will host the Pan American Games for the second time in history, after the successful event of 2019. The Peruvian capital will thus become the third city in the Americas to organize the continental event for the second time after Mexico City (1955 and 1975) and Winnipeg (1967 and 1999).
