The Colombian cyclist Marco Tulio Suesca became the winner of the fourth stage of the Tour of Ecuador 2023, held between Cayambe and Cotacachi over 90.5 kilometers; while the Ecuadorian Robinson Chalapud remains the absolute leader of the general classification of the competition.

In this segment, the coffee grower was the strongest in the final meters after crossing Ecuadorians Nixon Rosero from Team Banco Guayaquil and Brayan Obando from Team C&S Technology in a tight finish. Rosero finished the stage in second place, while Obado was third.

The last stretch of the day marked differences until the end when they arrived at Lake San Pablo, a sector that took its toll on the cyclists. One of those who was relegated from the peloton was the Mexican Ignacio Prado, leader of the Metas Volantes team.

Robinson Chalapud after completing this stage maintained his lead in the general classification with a cumulative time of 10 hours, 48 minutes and 19 seconds. His teammate Jorge Montenegro is second at 1 minute, 13 seconds and Byron Guamá from the Movistar-Best PC team completes the podium 3 minutes and 5 seconds behind the leader.

The fifth stage of the Tour ofEcuador will be run this Friday between Cotacachi and Ciudad Mitad del Mundo. The day will be marked by the ascent to Culebrillas as the greatest difficulty of the competition, in addition to two other first-class mountain passes in Cochas and Tocachi.

This Friday’s competition will be the penultimate of the Tour of Ecuador 2023 and the longest until then, in which the cyclists will cover a distance of 149.4 kilometers.
