The bicycle rider Mariana Pajón is a world figure and everything that happens with her is news. The multiple champion won gold this weekend for Antioquia in the BMX time trial of the Colombian National Games, which are being held in the coffee region.

That medal for Mariana and her department was much more than valuable; and she gained more strength because of the conditions in which she ran. Pajón, along with her team, made the decision not to go out to fight for medals in BMX Racing in the women’s branch.

“It was not easy to make this decision, it was not even easy to make the decision to run on Friday, but Antioquia is a department that has always believed in me, in my conditions, so it was important to be here at these National Games. Finally I did it for myself, for my family and for this entire work group that has prepared conscientiously and responsibly to achieve great things,” Pajón told the official press of the national fairs.

The BMX superstar obtained yesterday on the track of the Popular Recreation Park of Armenia, a disputed gold with a time of 37 seconds and 529 thousandths; She was followed by Gabriela Bolle, from Atlántico, with 38,228, and in third place was Laura Tatiana Ordoñez, from Cauca, with 39,161.

“This Friday was nice, it was important. All medals have great value. Winning will always be important, but going out to compete today was enough for me, I am recovering and I am going to recover very quickly to be stronger next year,” Mariana continued.

The Olympic medalist’s injury spans many years, of care, of a lot of rest, of being very attentive to it and Pajón herself classifies it as wear and tear. “This is getting worse and worse, that’s why I put my foot down and stop. I have run all year, but I am very happy with what I have achieved. I have fought, but it is time to stop, take a break, recover and come back with everything.”

She has her sights set on that ultimate goal that is the Olympic Games next year and she is no stranger to the challenge: “the idea first of all is to qualify, on May 31 the qualifications end for us, the Olympic Games will always be more than important and Paris without a doubt is the main objective for next year,” our great Mariana Pajón concluded by saying.
