It was known and now it’s official: Jefferson Cepeda is a new Movistar Team rider. The Ecuadorian rider has signed for two seasons with Movistar Team after having performed at a high level the last few seasons with Caja Rural.

This is the fifth signing of the team sponsored by Telefónica. Born in Quito in 1996, he comes from a great year 2024, the best of his professional career, finishing fourth in O Gran Camiño in a race won by Jonas Vingegaard and fifth in the Flecha Brabanzona. In the hard nationals of Ecuador he was silver in both road and time trial.

He formed a great pair with Orluis Aular, who will also be his colleague now in Movistar Team. He won the Tour of Qinghai Lake and a stage in Limoussin. In the Vuelta a Burgos he put up a great fight and now hopes to take a leap forward by landing for the first time in his career in a WorldTour team.

He is delighted, how could it be otherwise, to land in his new team: “Movistar Team is a team that I’ve always liked and I’m happy that now I’ll be part of it. I know some people who are in this team and I think that’s good for me to adapt faster and be able to contribute my part to achieve goals together”.

He confesses to have worked hard to be able to finish in the highest category of world cycling: “Being part of a WorldTour team was always the goal for which I traveled to Europe. I have worked very hard, year after year, to improve and achieve it. This season I was able to be very regular and have a good level; therefore, I was given this opportunity that is a step in my professional career that I will try to make the most of”.

Grateful to Caja Rural: “After these years in Caja Rural, with whom I am very grateful for giving me the opportunity to reach professional cycling and grow with them, I feel that I am ready to discover new races and new challenges”.
