Movistar Team has announced its stellar lineup for the next edition of the Tour Colombia, scheduled from February 6 to 11, which consolidates an elite team with outstanding cyclists, led by the experienced Colombian Nairo Quintana and Fernando Gaviria, winner of stages in the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France.
The Spanish squad, which participates for the fourth time in the race, will bet for the leadership of the general classification to Nairo, champion of the 2014 Giro d’Italia and the 2016 Vuelta a España, who comes from competing in the National Road Championships, where he placed fourth in the time trial and 26th in the long-distance race.
Accompanying Quintana, the team will have the speed and skill of Fernando Gaviria, who will bring his ability in high-speed stages and his ability to compete in sprints. Iván Sosa, known for his strength in mountainous terrain, will be another fundamental pillar for Movistar Team, promising exciting duels in the elevations of the Tour Colombia.
The lineup is complemented by talented names such as Vinícius Rangel, Albert Torres and Sergio Samitier, each bringing their specialized skills to strengthen the team’s versatility in different types of stages.
Sergio Samitier, double mountain champion in the Tour of the Alps, and Albert Torres, rider who has participated in three editions of the Giro d’Italia and one of the Tour de France, complete their fifth season in the Iberian squad, which will have the Spanish Pablo Lastras as Sport Director.
With a mixture of experience and youth, Movistar Team seeks to leave its mark in this competition, aspiring to conquer stages and stand out in the general classification of the Tour Colombia 2024.
The Spanish team hopes to improve its best performance in the Tour Colombia, achieved in the first edition, when the event was called Colombia Oro y Paz, in which Nairo Quintana finished second, behind Egan Bernal from Zipaquire.
