After two days of fruitful work between Panam Sports and the Lima 2027 Organizing Committee, the host city contract for the XX Pan American Games was signed in the Peruvian capital.
“We are very pleased with the signing of this contract. We see a very committed and passionate Organizing Committee, with which we share the same goal: to achieve a successful sport celebration, always keeping the athletes at the center of our decisions,” said Panam Sports Secretary General Jimena Saldaña.
The first in-person meeting between Panam Sports and the Lima 2027 Organizing Committee ended with many lessons learned and tasks to be accomplished.
The Panam Sports team led by Secretary General Jimena Saldaña, consisted of Major Events Director, Ana Paula González; Sports Director, Andrea Carvajal; Olympic Solidarity Director, Karla Lecona; Marketing Director, Mathias Hanna and Communications Director, Alejandro Goycoolea.
The Lima 2027 Organizing Committee was headed by its President, Federico Tong, joined by the President of the Peruvian Olympic Committee, Renzo Manyari; the Peruvian Olympic medalist and IOC member Cecilia Tait, and the athlete, Olympic diploma in Paris 2024, Evelyn Inga, among others.
Two very profitable days of work were completed, consisting of the transfer of experiences and knowledge by Panam Sports and an update of what has been done so far, as well as the projects and guidelines on the work that must to be done by the host city for the success of the continental celebration.
“The Games are only 30 months away from the Games. Although Lima already has most of the infrastructure in place, there is no time to waste. There is a lot of work ahead, and we as Panam Sports are here to reiterate our commitment. We have not come to supervise, we have come to work together for this great event, the most important in the continent,” said Jimena Saldaña, Secretary General of Panam Sports.

For his part, the president of the Organizing Committee and president of the Peruvian Sports Institute, Federico Tong expressed that “the Pan American Games are already underway, the wheel has already started to run. And that is why the Peruvian Government is firmly committed to strengthening sports in the country. Lima is already a sports hub in the Americas and we want to offer athletes a satisfactory experience and first class infrastructure”.
The president of the Peruvian Olympic Committee, Renzo Manyari valued this meeting and learning opportunity, highlighting that all the organizations working for this project are a single team that will strive for the success of the Lima 2027 Games.
“The meetings were extremely positive. We strengthened coordination with Panam Sports, we presented all the progress achieved so far in the organization of Lima 2027 and the work teams showed their professionalism, high spirit of service and passion for sport,” said the president of the NOC.
“Today, we reaffirmed that Peru and Panam Sports are strategic partners in favor of our Pan American athletes and their families. Without a doubt, Lima 2027 is a reality,” concluded Renzo Manyari.
