The first edition of the Just Peace Tour in California took place this Sunday, November 12, with the presence of the experienced Colombian cyclist Óscar Mauricio Pachón, who did not disappoint and took the final victory of the event.

The beetle was accompanied on the final podium by the American Dawson Taylor, who took 2nd place and the third place on the podium went to the Guatemalan Alfredo Ajpacajá, champion of the 2018 Vuelta Guatemala.

The competition, which had a 48-kilometer route, is promoted by Guatemalans and aims to raise funds to support medical days in various areas of Guatemala.

The cycling event, which has traditionally been held in New York, United States, for more than 10 years, had the participation of several professional and amateur cyclists from different states and several Latin American countries.

Another of the people who graced the celebration of the Tour for Just Peace was the American actor Harrison Ford, who was invited to mark the starting flag of the race.

Before waving the flag this Sunday, November 12, the Indiana Jones actor shared with the cyclists and attendees several words of encouragement about the race and also mentioned Guatemala.

“I am very pleased to be here this morning. It’s a beautiful day to do a good deed. (…) Guys, you are supporting an incredible cause that will bring medical supplies and medical aid to poor people in Guatemala. I am proud to be part of this mission. So have a great journey and a great day,” said the 81-year-old actor.

The race on November 12 was also accompanied by the commissioner of the Guatemalan Cycling Federation, Gladys Ernest. The cycling route extended for 48 kilometers, of which 25 were friendly or “coexistence.”
