The eyes of the cycling world will be on Panama starting this Tuesday, February 25, when the Pan American Cycling Congress is held, which will be attended by Frenchman David Lappartient, who has been at the head of the International Cycling Union (UCI) since 2017.

Lappartient was already on Panamanian soil in the midst of the Pan American Road Championship in 2023 and was very motivated by the great development of this sport in our country.

The venue for this Congress will be the Hotel Las Américas Golden Tower Panama, located in the capital city and according to the agenda the events will begin at 9:00 in the morning, with a small protocol ceremony, as is appropriate and traditional in these meetings.

The president of the Panamanian Cycling Federation, Vicente Carretero Napolitano, will welcome the representatives of the more than 40 nations that are part of the Pan American Cycling Federation (COPACI), which will also hold its presidential election for the next four years of work.

Likewise, the president of COPACI, Cuban José Manuel Peláez Rodríguez, will speak to give an account of his management at the head of the organization in the last 4 years and later there will be the intervention of the president of the UCI, David Lappartient.

A work report by COPACI and the Finance Commission of this organization is planned to be revealed during this Congress, as well as other issues concerning the sport of pedals such as the Continental calendar, the awarding of the Order of Merit and other general issues.

“It is a great pride for us to be the venue of this Pan American Congress. This shows that we are on the right path and that we continue to advance in this sport,” said member Vicente Carretero.
