Two gold medals, one silver and two bronze was the harvest that Panamanian cycling achieved today at the start of the VI Central American Road Cycling Championship, which is being held in the sister country of Honduras.
Annibel Prieto was the first to climb to the top of the podium for our country to win the gold in Elite women after riding the 19.4 kilometers in a time of 27:09 minutes.
In this same category Wendy Ducreux won the bronze medal for Panama with a time of 28:37 minutes, the second position went to the Guatemalan Jazmín Soto with 27:10.
In the Elite Men’s category, Franklin Archibold from Chiriqui won the gold medal for the third time in this event. In this opportunity he negotiated the 38.8 kilometers with a time of 47:49.
In this race, Christofer Jurado from Chorrerano was second with a time of 48:11 and third was Sergio Arias from Costa Rica with 48:47.
In the U-23, Felipe Chan from Chorrera obtained bronze after 38.8 kilometers in which he ran 51:11 minutes. Gold and silver went to Costa Rica with Donovan Ramirez (49:10) and Gabriel Pacheco (50:09), respectively.
At the end of the day Panama finished on top followed by Costa Rica with 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze, while Guatemala won a silver medal.
This Friday, the men’s team time trial will be run with a 38.8 km course, while the women’s will be run with a total of 19.4 km.
