The Colombia Potencia de la Vida team also dominated the second stage of the Women’s Cycling Tour of Colombia 2024. This time the victory went to Paula Andrea Carrasco, who won the sprint, in a flat fraction disputed over 127.4 kilometers, which joined Cartagena with Barranquilla.
The rider from Cundinamarca, won the fraction after 3 hours, 37 minutes and 39 seconds. Second came her teammate Paula Latriglia and third finished Karen Villamizar (Boneshaker Project presented by ROXO), all three with the same time.
Carrasco, who crossed the finish line first after imposing her conditions as a sprinter, managing to raise her arms in the capital of El Atlántico, gave her impressions. “Very happy, we had been working for this, it is a process that takes 5 years. To thank my teammates who always supported me, we knew that together with Paula we could win and thanks to God I took the victory and we were both fighting in the general”, said the cyclist of Colombia Potencia de la Vida at the end of the stage.
The hot day was marked by the withdrawal of the winner of the first day, and race leader Elizabeth Castaño, physically affected by the heat. Now the overall classification is led by Diana Peñuela of DNA Cycling, 2nd place for Paula Carrasco to one second, and 3rd Paula Latriglia just two seconds behind the leader.
The Women’s Cycling Tour of Colombia round will continue this Thursday with the third stage between Barranquilla and Mina Pozo Azul of 108.4 kilometers, which will be the first high finish of the competition.
