The organizers of the Vuelta a España presented this week the start of the 80th edition of the Iberian round, which, for the sixth time in history will start from abroad, this time from Italy, more precisely in the Piedmont region.
It will also be the first start from Italy. The other times the race has left Spanish territory were Lisbon (1997), Assen (2009), Nîmes (2017), Utrecht (2022) and Lisbon (2024).
The opening day of La Vuelta 25 will start from Turin – Reggia di Venaria, to head to Novara in a 183-kilometer online day with passage through the 3rd category Bienca-Tomalino Pass.
The second stage will start in Alba and will end 157 kilometers later in Limone Piemonte (2nd category pass), in what will be the first uphill finish of the race.
The third stage on Transalpine territory will be held between San Maurizio Canavese and Ceres on a 139-kilometer route with the second-category Issiglio Pass at the halfway point.
