In another mountainous finish, Róbinson López (GW Erco Shimano) won the second stage of the Tour of Guatemala 2024. Saturday’s route included a very hard ride from Jutiapa to Fraijanes, with 135 kilometers of route, which included seven mountain prizes.

The 26-year-old Beetle overcame the Guatemalan Mardoqueo Vásquez of Hino-One-La Red-Suzuki and the Ecuadorian Bryan Obando (Movistar Best PC), who came second and third, respectively.

Kilometer by kilometer, the national and international cyclists left their best to try to take the second stage of the most important sporting event in Guatemala.

Some cyclists began to stand out, fracturing the peloton that managed to remain compact despite the athletes’ escape in search of the flying goals and the mountain prizes. In a total party, the entrance to Fraijanes was tinged with joy for all the people who came out of their homes to see the asphalt heroes rise in the final stretch of the competition.

As for the general classification, the Bogota-born David González (Team Medellín-EPM) remained in command now escorted by his compatriot Róbinson López (GW Erco Shimano).

The Tour of Guatemala will continue this Sunday with the third stage, which will start in La Vieja and finish in Santa Lucia, on a route of 139 kilometers, which includes a mountain prize of first category. The successor of the local rider Gerson Toc, champion of the last edition in 2023, will be known next Sunday, November 3, in Antigua.
