The Bogotá climber preserved his podium in the competition in the last stage after arriving in the main group on the last day, won by the Italian Simone Consonni, from Cofidis, who won the 142.9-kilometre section.

Buitrago finished third overall behind Portuguese Ruben Guerreiro (Team Movistar) and Davide Formolo (UAE Team Emirates) on a podium finish, closing another memorable performance for the Beetles in a race on the UCI calendar.
The young Colombian cyclist, trained at the Esteban Chaves Foundation, continued to demonstrate his impressive condition in the mountains and remains one of the great bets of Bahrain-Victorious for the immediate future and for the great tours of the season.
