The 7C Economy Lacoinex team conquered this January 8th the first stage of the XLIII edition of the International Cycling Tour of Chiriquí, in Panama, and has also placed the first leader of the individual general classification in the figure of Daniel Oses.
The Costa Rican squad spent 15 minutes and 28 seconds for the 12.6 kilometers of the route between Parque de Las Madres, Los Algarrobos and Parque de Las Madres in the city of David. He was the best of all on the day with the stopwatch, and beat Panamá es Cultura y Valores by 3 seconds and Colono Bikestation Kölbi by 36 seconds. While the Mexican team of Esparza Training, which has Colombian Brayan Quintero in its ranks, finished in eighth place.
“It is an honor to wear this shirt in a Vuelta that has had several Costa Ricans as champions. The team did a good job and thank God we crossed the line first,” said 22-year-old Daniel Oses.
Other shirt wearers were Leandro Varela (7C Economy Lacoinex), in the stage, while the department leaders were Albis Velásquez (Revolución Cycling Team) in Master, Dilan Jiménez (7C Economy Lacoinex), in Sub-23 and Franklin Archibold ( Panama is Culture and Values), as the best national.
This Tuesday the second part of the Panamanian round will be held, a short and flat day with a route of 96.6 kilometers, around the city of David. There will be 20 laps of 4.8 kilometers each, with three flying finishes.
The successor of the Colombian Marco Tulio Suesca, champion of the last edition in 2022, will be known next Sunday, January 14 in David (Panama).
