The National Cycling Federation of Honduras confirmed this Tuesday that the Central American cycling festival will be held from June 6 to 9 in that nation, after receiving the support of the Pan American Cycling Confederation (COPACI) and the International Cycling Union (UCI).

Although during the previous week, within the framework of the Pan American Road Championship in Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil, the information that the Central American Road Championship Honduras 2024 would be postponed was born, the president of the National Cycling Federation of Honduras, Freddy Diaz, commented in social networks that the event is still on.

“Subsequent to the communiqué we spoke with the people of the UCI and COPACI and they are going to give us their support”. The communiqué we made today confirms that the event is going to be held normally, so we are one hundred percent sure that the event is going to take place”, expressed Freddy Díaz, president of the National Cycling Federation of Honduras, to the specialized cycling sites La Baika Hn and crciclismo.com.

Honduras will host, for the first time, the Central American Road Cycling Championship, starting activities on Thursday, June 6, with the Individual Time Trial that will take place in the Dry Canal, between the municipalities of Villa de San Antonio and San Sebastian, usual venue of the National Time Trial Championship. The women will compete for the Central American gold medal in a 19.4 kilometer course and the men in a 38.8 kilometer section.

The second day will be historic, with the spectacle of the team time trial, 19.4 kilometers for the men’s and women’s squads ready to fight for the title, in the same sector of the individual time trial.

The Central American cycling festival will conclude with the men’s and women’s long-distance races at Boulevard Morazán, Tegucigalpa. The distances will be announced in the coming days.
