HAVANA. The Cuban International ICU Commissar, Joaquín Parets, died a victim of hepatic sirrosis.
Parets was linked to national cycling from a young age in his native Catalina de Güines in the current Cuban province of Mayabeque, acting as coach and curator in the country’s main competitions.
In Paret’s professional career, he also worked as an UCI commissar in different cycling events in the Americas.
The president of the Pan-American Cycling Confederation (COPACI), José Manuel Peláez, expressed his regret at the death of Parets while extending his condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
