The Tour Colombia will return in the 2024 season, after three years of absence from the cycling calendar. With the work of the Colombian Cycling Federation and the Ministry of Sports, a couple of weeks ago it was announced that the country’s most important cycling competition would return.

Although the route of the race, which will run from February 6 to 11, is already official, there would be some problems in running it normally. This is because the last fraction of this race will culminate in the National Park of Bogotá. However, an indigenous community has settled in this space of the city since the beginning of November.

The presence of this population, which is living in the park, could affect the development of the Tour Colombia, although the president of the Colombian Cycling Federation, Jorge Mauricio Vargas, did not give further details of the situation.

“We are working on this. “Looking for alternatives,” were the words of the top leader. In this way, the end of the final day could change, it is expected that in the coming days an official statement will be released regarding the solution to this unforeseen event.

The Tour Colombia will host three WorldTour teams and the main figures of Colombian cycling such as Egan Bernal, Nairo Quintana, Rigoberto Urán, Daniel Felipe Martínez, Sergio Higuita, Iván Ramiro Sosa, among others. In addition, there will be international figures such as Mark Cavendish or Richard Carapaz.

What will the route of the Tour Colombia 2024 be like?

The first stage will begin on February 6 in the municipality of Paipa and will end in Duitama, after 155 kilometers. Then, the peloton of cyclists will face a 169-kilometer stage that will also begin in Paipa and conclude in Santa Rosa de Viterbo, on February 7.

Then, on February 8, the third day of the Tour Colombia will take place, which will have a cumulative route of 112.5 kilometers and will take place in the city of Tunja, capital of Boyacá.

The next day the fourth stage will take place, which will begin in Paipa and end in Zipaquirá, after 181.8 kilometers. And on February 10, the penultimate fraction will take place from the municipality of Cota, in Cundinamarca, to Alto del Vino, with a total route of 138.3 kilometers.

Finally, on February 11, 2024, the last stage of the Tour Colombia 2024 will take place, which on this occasion will bring down the curtain with a 155-kilometer journey from Sopó to the city of Bogotá. Exactly, in the National Park, until now.
