The 46th edition of the Tour of Independencia Nacional will start this Monday with the participation of 136 cyclists from 23 national and international teams.
The Tour of Independencia will take place in seven stages between Monday, February 24 and Sunday, March 2. Blas Díaz indicated that a total of 23 teams, including 10 nationals and 13 foreigners, will take part in the competition.
The top national cycling competition is organized by the Dominican Cycling Federation, which is presided by Jorge Blas Díaz. The event has the support of the Administrative Ministry of the Presidency, the Ministry of Sports, Banreservas, Seaboard and Gatorade.
The national teams are: Inteja/IMCA, Asocisa/Santiago, La Romana, Fénix, Doglocy/IMCA, Verrazano/Santiago, Asociprodu/SFM, Bara Bike, El Boro Cycling Team and Asocipe/Moca,
The outsiders are: CAMA CCD, Premier Texas, Esparza Training, PZ Cycling Team. Team JCO, Team Medellin, CSCA Proprete, HyF Sport Wear, Prestige Cycling-PR, Quebexico, City Bikes Miami, Phoenix Internat-Cayman, and Cycliste De Abymes.
Stages
The first stage will start from the National Velodrome at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center and includes the Santo Domingo-Baní-Circunvalación El Higüero stretch. All departures are scheduled for 9:00 am.
The second day will take place on Tuesday 25 with the Santo Domingo-San Pedro de Macorís-La Romana circuit, starting from the Seaboard company on the Malecón.
On Wednesday 26, stage 3 will start from the Banreservas branch on Winston Churchill Avenue with the Santo Domingo-Villa Altagracia-Rancho Arriba mountain route.
Thursday 27 will be stage 4 with a closed circuit in the Parque Mirador Sur. On Friday 28, the cyclists will ride route 5: Santo Domingo-San Pedro de Macorís-Circunvalación El Higüero.
The penultimate stage will be Santo Domingo-Circunvalación El Higüero, on Saturday, March 1. The Dominican giro concludes on Sunday 2 with a closed circuit on the Expreso Quinto Centenario.
