HAVANA. Competitors from more than 20 countries will star in this weekend in the Havana Malecon the 19th Caribbean Road Cycling Championship, dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the Cuban capital.

At nine o’clock in the morning today the 22.8 km (km) time trial race for ladies will start and, at 10, the 34.2 km race for men, in both cases with elite and sub 23 year old bikers.

The tour will be in a circuit on Malecon Avenue, approximately from 12th Street to Prado, with departure and finish in the vicinity of the National Hotel, according to the technical guide provided by the Pan American Cycling Confederation.

With the presence of Frenchman David Lappartient, president of the International Cycling Union (UCI), the Congress of the Caribbean Cycling Confederation will be held, from four in the afternoon.

This Sunday, at 8:30 in the morning, the 68.4 km route for women will begin and, at 11, the 125.4 km route for men, in a UCI Class 1.2 competition that will award individual scores for the continental ladder. (ACN)
