In its fifth version, the Giro de Rigo 2023 traveled the roads of the department of Cundinamarca, which allowed the nearly 5,300 participants from all over Colombia to get to know the beauty of the Cundinamarca geography.

The municipalities of Ricaurte, Girardot, Tocaima, Viotá, El Colegio, La Mesa, Anapoima and Apulo received the competitors and Rigoberto Urán accompanied by his special guests; Jarlinson Pantano, Víctor Hugo Peña, Sergio Luis Henao, Juanma Gárate, Mauricio Soler, Óscar Sevilla, Sergio Higuita, Santiago Buitrago, Juan Pablo Urrego, and the Governor of Cundinamarca, Nicolás García Bustos, and the world star and classic and great specialist laps, Wout van Aert.

The competition, with ambient temperatures between 23 and 33 degrees, was divided into two categories, the ‘Iguana Challenge’, 90 kilometers, 800 meters of positive slope and the ‘Caiman Challenge’, 160 km, 2,400 meters of positive slope. and 9 hours of maximum travel time. In the latter, the “La Calichana” mountain prize stood out, with an average slope of 5.5% and several ramps up to double digits.

Likewise, it was carried out in categories of 18 to 30 years (A), 31 to 40 years (B), 41 to 50 years (C), 51 to 60 years (D) and over 61 years (E), both in men like women. The first three places in each category obtained $6,000,000, $2,500,000 and $1,000,000 each.

Although high temperatures were a concern for pedal enthusiasts, some minor drizzles allowed them to cool off, adding to the permanent hydration provided by the organization throughout the course.

After the competition, the competitors received additional hydration, mechanical assistance and even a recovery massage, and to finish, they were given a medal as a souvenir of their participation in the Giro de Rigo, which introduced them to the beauty of Cundinamarca.
