The seventh edition of the Tour do Rio will take place on November 1, 2 and 3, 2024 in Conservatória, in Vale do Café, Rio de Janeiro, offering the emotions of an international event. In this version, there will also be the Tour do Rio Challenge, a CBC class 4 competition with 16 categories, where amateur cyclists will be able to ride the same routes as the world elite.
The Tour do Rio, one of the most traditional cycling races in the world and the main Latin American competition recognized by the International Cycling Union, returns to the Brazilian sports calendar.
“The Tour do Rio already lives in the hearts of sport lovers. I am very proud to be able to organize again a competition of this magnitude and to accompany the growth of cycling in the country – we are now the fifth largest consumer market of bicycles in the world and 1/3 of the population pedals” said Luisa Jucá, director of the event.
“It makes me even happier to be able to take cycling to other places with good roads like Conservatória. I must emphasize that it was only possible to come back with the Tour do Rio thanks to the sponsorship of Correios”, she pointed out.
The Tour do Rio is sponsored by the Brazilian Cycling Confederation (CBC) and the UCI, and is Brazil’s first race in the Pro Tour 2.2 category. There will be three stages, on consecutive days, with a total of 434.2 km. The most important teams from Brazil and six other countries will fight for 5,000 euros in prize money.
The Desafio Tour do Rio, to be held on November 2 and 3, will feature road cycling on long (246 km) and medium (158.5 km) routes. The hills of the historic Vale do Café, with their steep climbs, are part of the route. Around 500 professional and amateur athletes will compete alongside the professionals, increasing the visibility and participation in the sport.
Registrations closed exclusively online until October 29. The kits will be delivered on November 1 at the Conservatória Station.
