The fifth stage of the Tour of Chiriquí 2024 was in the hands of Joseph Ramírez (Esparza Training). The Costa Rican was the strongest in the final ascent and achieved the victory, after riding 122.4 kilometers in the city of David.
The young Costa Rican rider, 22 years old, who achieved his first victory of the season, beat the Colombian Kevin Cano (Comercializadora Farmacia Birdman). Third came Costa Rican Gabriel Pacheco (Team Costa Fruit-Giant), 22 seconds behind the winner.
As for the general classification, the Panamanian Bolívar Espinosa (Panama es Cultura y Valores) took the lead of the race, which was in the hands of his compatriot David Díaz (Rally-Giant). Edison Osorio (Comercializadora Farmacia Birdman) from Antioquia is still the best rider in 5th position.
This Tuesday the queen stage of the Tour of Chiriquí will be disputed, a day of 127.2 kilometers that will start from David and will cross Panamanian towns like San Andres, San Pablo, Dolega and Potrerillos before finishing in La Chancleta. The cyclists will face two intermediate sprints and two mountain prizes, the last one at the finish line, located more than 1,000 meters above sea level.
