In a finish at pure speed, Alejandro Osorio (GW Erco Shimano) won this Monday the third stage of the Tour of Colombia 2024, which included a total distance of 168.6 kilometers starting in Cota and finishing in Mariquita.
The rider from Carmel, who won his second consecutive victory in this edition, entered the finish line in first place after beating Sergio Luis Henao (Nu Colombia) in the sprint. Rodrigo Contreras (Nu Colombia) entered with the bunch and maintained the lead of the race.
The day began very busy, and in the first climb of the day, in the Alto del Vino, the boyacense Edgar Pinzon (GW Erco Shimano) went first, 2nd Sebastián Castaño (Team Sistecrédito) and 3rd Juan Castillo (Colombia Potencia de Vida), but on the descent they were caught.
Then, the first breakaway of the day appeared with Santiago Ramírez (Avinal-Alcaldía El Carmen de Viboral), Wilson Peña (Team Sistecrédito), Cristian Cubides (EBSA), José Alarcón (EBSA) and the Ecuadorian Pablo Caicedo (Movistar Best PC), however, the adventure did not last long and they were quickly caught by the peloton.
The lot kept the race under control in the last kilometers, however, Bernardo Suaza (Forte Petrolike – Androni Giocattoli) tried in the final part, but was unsuccessful, finally everything was defined to the sprint, where Sergio Luis Henao almost surprised Alejando Osorio, who won his second victory in this edition.
This Tuesday will be disputed the fourth stage of the Colombian round, which will take place between Mariquita and the Alto del Sifón, a route that suffered last minute changes due to landslides on the road so the route will have only 116 kilometers.
