Again he crowned the breakaway! This time the Colombian Andrés Camilo Ardila (NU Colombia) was the strongest of the breakaway to win the sixth stage of the Tour of Guatemala 2024, after 120 kilometers between Totonicapán and María Tecun.

The rider from Tolima rounded off another spectacular performance of the purple team, passing first at the finish line, overtaking his compatriot and teammate Jhonatan Chaves. Third came Ecuadorian Brayan Obando (Movistar-Best PC), 16 seconds behind.

As for the general classification, the Bogota rider David González (Team Medellín-EPM) increased the advantage over his rivals. The rider from the capital is followed by Róbinson López (GW Erco Shimano) at 1:12 and by Guatemalan Mardoqueo Vásquez (Hino-One-La red-Suzuki) at :1:41.

In the early stages of the day the beetles were again great animators. Five beetles jumped out of the group: Jhonatan Chaves (Nu Colombia), Andres Camilo Ardila (Nu Colombia), Alejandro Osorio (GW Erco Shimano), Daniel Muñoz (Nu Colombia), Cristian Velez (GW Erco Shimano), who left in the company of Harry Sam (Decorabaños – AC Quetzaltenango), Donoban Ramírez (Colono Bikestation Kölbi), Byron Guamá (Movistar Best PC), Sebastián Brenes (Canel’s Java) and Brayan Obando (Movistar Best PC).

At the halfway point of the race, the lead began to lose units and at the top of the first category mountain prize in Alaska there were only three riders in the lead: the Ecuadorian Brayan Obando (Movistar-Best PC) and the Colombian climbers Jhonatan Chaves (Nu Colombia) and Andrés Camilo Ardila (Nu Colombia).

In the closing, the Nu Colombia duo set a strong pace to release the Ecuadorian, rounding another formidable performance of the Colombian continental team, making the 1-2 with Andres Camilo Ardila and Jhonatan Chaves.

The seventh stage of the Chapin round will be disputed this Thursday over 131 kilometers between San Juan La Laguna and Chimaltenango, another leg-breaking stage that includes six mountain passes.
