The first stage of the Tour of San Carlos, disputed between the Municipality of San Carlos and the Municipality of Los Chiles, over 140 kilometers, was led by Pablo Mudarra (Colono Bikestation Kölbi), Joseph Ramírez (Team GW A), Dylan Jiménez (7C Economy Ren a Car), Christopher Jurado (Panamá es Cultura y Valores) and Josué Salas (Team CMS Prefabricados San Carlos).

The five riders achieved what many tried for more than 90 kilometers, reaching a difference of 55 seconds that demanded the maximum from the peloton, led by Daniel Bonilla, Sergio Arias and Sebastián Moya of Colono Bikestation Kölbi. Although the red train had the strongest candidate for the partial triumph, it let escape weighty rivals in the race for the general classification.

The definition came amid the vigilance of the leading quintet and an accurate attack by Joseph Ramirez, taking advantage of the last curve in the Ferretería Salas de Los Chiles trying to surprise his rivals, however, Pablo Mudarra reacted quickly and turning to his experience in the packaging and the kidney punch managed to go back on the sentence line attacking the Palmaresan winning the first stage and the leadership of the race.

Dylan Jiménez arrived in third place, Christopher Jurado (Panama es Cultura y Valores) was fourth and Josué Salas (Team CMS Prefabricados San Carlos) finished fifth, while Marcos Sánchez (Distribuidora Cruz Tecnofotest Atómica Maxxis) led the finish line 35 seconds behind.

The three flying goals arranged in the day became a great attraction in the 140-kilometer route, as demonstrated by Jason Huertas (Colono Bikestation Kölbi) and Donovan Ramirez (Colono Bikestation Kölbi), the first to move the race.

It was also the case of Miguel Aragon (Cervantes Service Station Kativa Chavo Mechanics) and Roberto Jimenez (Team GW) who opened the way to the first thrill of the day, conquered alone by Jimenez, followed by the San Caroleños Jordan Rodriguez and Pablo Villalobos of Finca 2Erres.

True to the purpose that led him to lead the formation of a squad to support his cycling friends and race in the most important event of his town, Jordan Rodríguez won the second flying goal becoming leader with eight points, an income that was not threatened by Jeferson Jerez (EDA S.A. Nicaragua) and Jorge Núñez (Distribuidora Cruz Trama Gu) who won the third flying goal of the fraction as members of a new escape.

The second stage of the Vuelta a San Carlos will be disputed over 123 kilometers between Ciudad Quesada, Los Angeles, Muelle, La Virgen, San Miguel and Venecia.
